We design events for ADHD entrepreneurs. I want to tell you the story of how we got here and let you know a couple of the things that we do specifically for ADHD entrepreneurs. We only realized in late 2021 to early this year that what we've been doing for the past few years was designing and refining events for the ADHD brain.
How We Did It
When we started hosting multi speaker events in 2016, one thing I knew was that I didn't want to do the same old thing. I attend a lot of these entrepreneur events, and when the content or quality is subpar, I return to work and am disappointed with what I implement, or I don't implement anything at all. The reason we produce these events is because we want to support and help small business owners. We have spent years figuring out how to design and deliver an event that supports implementation of the information from that event.
Why We Did It
I get speakers who ask me all the time, “So, what's the pitch? What are we pitching at this event?” I tell them nothing. We don't Pitch Anything at our events, none of them. We don't Pitch Anything. You get a form that asks if you would like to sign up for next year’s event. That's it, we don’t need pitching because the event is the product. I wanted us to build an event that could truly support these entrepreneurs to make growth happen in their businesses without having to buy a $30,000 coaching program. We spent years figuring out how to do that, and the secret was building events for me, as if I was the audience. As a result, Grow Disrupt has created an occasion that's ideal for ADHD entrepreneurs.
A New Experience
If you're not ADHD, you can still come to our events. Many people who are not classically diagnosed with ADHD come to our events, so you're not going to be freaked out. However, if you have ADHD, and you've been disappointed with other events, either because of the quality of the event, or the lack of implementation on your part, leading you to beat yourself up. Come try one of our events, because this was built for how your brain operates and functions.
ADHD Is Not a Weakness
Another other thing we've learned is how to turn ADHD into a superpower by turning their unique abilities into assets. We turn their strengths into features we build upon onsite. Because we know that one of the strengths of an ADHD individual is being able to see all 40 different paths forward, our goal is to help them narrow it down to just one. We even have a custom room scent to spritz into the air of our events. It has this element that is both earthy and grounding, but also kind of vibrant and uplifting. We do all these things to ensure these entrepreneurs are supported in an environment that is conducive to the functioning of the ADHD mind.
The Takeaway
The biggest takeaway from all of this is that Grow Disrupt’s goal is for these entrepreneurs to be supported in realizing their strengths are phenomenal. They are powerful. They can make a difference. They are making a difference. I spent years of my life setting up bumpers, like I'm a kid in a bowling alley to keep myself on track. I'm grateful for them. I'm grateful for the things that I put in place that help keep me on track. I also believe that accepting who I am has helped me tremendously, as well as my company. I want to encourage you to do the same as well.
